โ‰๏ธ Have you heard about the recent cyberattack at SickKids Hospital?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Read on for key points to takeaway from this article and unfortunate Ransomware attack - outlining the disastrous impacts upon the hospital systems:

โ—๏ธ SickKids Hospital has been operating under a 'Code Grey', indicating a system failure - in response to the cyberattack since December 18, 2022. As of January 1st, SickKids said that over 60 % of its โ€œpriority systems" had been brought back online, including many that had contributed to diagnostic and treatment delays.

โ—๏ธ The hospital is still recovering from the cyberattack that it said delayed lab and imaging results, knocked out phone lines and shut down the staff payroll system. "Delayed treatment, delayed diagnostics โ€” the impact of those may not be clear until weeks, or months, or years, even, after the event,".

โ—๏ธ SickKids says there is "no evidence to date" that personal information was compromised, but experts say they treat those statements with a degree of skepticism until a full investigation is complete.

โ—๏ธ LockBit, the organization implicated in the attack, has previously been connected to hospital attacks in France - and also in recent ransomware attacks targeting the Town of St. Mary's, Ont., and the City of Westmount, Que. This is very close to home!

โ—๏ธ A Russian-Canadian citizen living in Brantford, Ont., was arrested in October for his alleged participation in the LockBit group.

โ—๏ธ U.S. officials allege the group has made at least $100 million in ransom demands and extracted tens of millions from victims. Even when organizations pay a ransom or otherwise, they only recover on average about two-thirds of their files - citing a Sophos survey cited in the article. ๐Ÿ’ธ

๐Ÿ“Œ Many businesses and organizations aren't prepared for an attack - and are unaware of the implications and fallout that can have disastrous effects upon your priority systems, data, and your ability to continue functioning.

Don't leave your data and systems vulnerable to risks and catastrophes!
