Tom Hough’s 1965 Chevelle SS As featured on ‘The Block’
“We love a nice, clean build. Something that is timeless and has just the right amount of mods and nothing too frivolous. A true resto-mod. While staying at our hotel for the event on Woodward, we came across this 1965 Chevelle SS while walking the parking lot. We loved the Fathom Green, and the black steelies with hubcaps, the black cowl hood and how clean and original-looking the interior was. We walked the parking lot of our hotel again the second night, and kept coming back to this car. We left our card in the door and thankfully Tom Hough of Hough Automotive in Ontario gave us a ring on Saturday. The 327 under the Race Weight 4" fiberglass cowl hood pumps out an impressive 550 horsepower at the flywheel from the flyweight small block.
We met up with Tom on Woodward so he could follow us to the photoshoot location in the beautiful Royal Oak area of Detroit on a breezy late summer morning. Cruising down Woodward the day of the event was crowded, to which Tom told us his temp gauge never went above 185-190. Additionally, we very much enjoyed hearing Tom behind us. His car just has the perfect, full-bodied, metallic, muscle car sound that turns heads and keeps people staring. We could tell his throttle response was pretty much instantaneous with quick revs. After we talked to Tom about the sound he told us there was nothing very special performed to the exhaust. Long tube headers, 3” piping and Flowmaster mufflers round out the exhaust system. There had to have been some serious work done to the engine.”
